Crystitudo's Emergence
"Light. Or...lights?" “Colors…it looks like. Many colors; so many colors.” “What is this I’m seeing?” “What is happening?” “And what…even am I?” Soon the light began to dissipate around the borders of his vision until at last all was clear—at least, in the physical sense. He turned his gaze from side to side, taking in what he could see around him. His vision still showed distortion, but in a different. It seemed he was encased in something…was it…a crystal? But, he didn’t have to wait long to find out, as soon he could hear what sounded like cracking, and then witnessed large cracks forming in the crystal to his left and right. The marks reached up above him, and the crystal he was cocooned inside split apart, his body falling onto the leftover heap of crystalline shards. Now freed from his stony cocoon, he could not only see more clearly, but moved his body. He peered downwards at what appeared to be his arms, or legs, or both? Like thin splinters of crystal they looked, which made

Investigator Tallulah Anilene
“Hmmm…” mused Tallulah as she examined the supposed glyphs etched on the stone wall before her. Though her search before this had been long and arduous, she at last managed to locate something of potential interest—all those weeks wandering around town and sleeping in cheap motels was finally worth it! Tallulah brushed her gloved hand over the carven symbols, focusing on the meaning behind them currently unknown to the young lady. Unfortunately, though she was learning, Tallulah was no expert on this matter. She had only just begun on this newfound mission in her own life over 1 month ago, and had only limited information on that which she was seeking: an ancient, secret cult believed to still inhabit some section of the town she was in—Mayrwych—whether it be large or small. Tallulah removed a small notebook from an inner pocket of her winter coat and began leafing through it whilst looking between it and the glyphs. Fortunately, though it wasn’t much, Tallulah had managed to gleam
From the utmost top a piece of debris fell; tumbling across the very ground where its fellow waste did dwell. More and more the rubble fell, diminishing the pile, with several pieces rolling into the base of a nearby spile. Over every passing moment did the mound grow smaller; adding to the desuetude of the surrounding squalor. From the heart of the rocky heap, as the stirring turned to shaking: a form soon began to rise as the pile prolonged its quaking. Soon sunlight made the figure more clear as through a damaged wall the light had bled. A gleam reflected off the figure's plating by the rays shining down from the sky overhead. Now standing fully upright and not impeded by much chaff, the being thrust its leg right through the bottommost portion of the draff. One after the other, though without a quickened stride, its metallic feet stepped onto the ground, not yet knowing what would betide. Farther out of the shadows and more into the light, its
The Cavern Entity “Is it nearby?” She felt the urge to look out from behind her hiding spot, but resisted the urge rather quickly, even though all that could be heard at the moments were the whistlings of a low wind from elsewhere in the cavern. She had no idea how long it had been since she first came here, though it most certainly felt like many hours, and every second that passed could only be filled with regret. “Why me?” she thought to herself. “Why here? Why…at all?” Madison had come to this cavern earlier as she considered herself an enthusiast of spelunking, though she had only been so for less than a year by this point. What few caverns she had explored before had never been as sizable as this one appeared to be, though that was clearly not this one’s most notable feature… Madison shuddered. “It got cold again…I really hope it’s just the wind…” When Madison had first come to this cave, it seemed no more a challenge than any previous one, but the deeper she ventured into its
